It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Earthee Lee Woodard, of Erie, on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on September 4, 1942, in Wayne County, Mississippi, the oldest son of the late Richard and Minnie Woodard.
A graduate of Tech Memorial High School, where he was known for his talent on the track, Lee later attended Penn State Behrend University, furthering his education and personal growth. He honorably served his country in the United States Army before beginning a 42-year career at General Electric. He proudly served Greater Bethlehem Temple Church as a member of the Deacon Board.
Lee was a man of integrity, kindness, patience, and quiet strength. He built a life centered on love and faith, always putting his family first. As a devoted husband, he was a true partner, steadfast, loyal, supportive, and deeply caring. As a proud father and grandfather, he led by example, teaching through his actions the values of honesty, compassion, hard work, and responsibility. As a family member and friend, he was someone you could always count on.
Lee’s greatest joys were spending time with family and friends, spending time at church, supporting Cleveland sports teams, and engaging in thoughtful conversation about anything. Those who knew Lee will remember his warm smile, kind heart, calm demeanor, and the way he treated everyone with respect. His legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched, but most of all in the hearts of his beloved family.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Viola Ellison Woodard, by his children Marcus Woodard (Carrie), and Melissa Doxey (Jon), and his grandchildren, Keena Woodard-Doxey, Norah Woodard, and Micah Woodard. He is further survived by his brothers, Richard Woodard and Jerry Woodard, and by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and great friends that became family. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Woodard and A.C Woodard.
A service to honor Deacon Woodard’s life will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025. Friends are invited to call on the family, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 12:00 p.m. at Greater Bethlehem Temple, 4103 Washington Ave. Erie, PA.
