Dorothy Carter (Dorey) Irwin, age 88, of Erie, went home to be with the Lord and her late husband, on June 1, 2026. She was surrounded by a few family members and friends as she passed away peacefully at Saint Vincent Hospital.
She was born in Erie, PA on August 19, 1937, a daughter of the late Lester and Marian (Langdon) Carter.
She was a Class of 1955 graduate of Academy High School and had worked at Erie Center for the Blind and later retired from the Banquet Department at the Bel-Air Hotel.
One of her greatest joys was being with her family and friends for picnics, pool parties and dinners. She believed that family and friends are very important in our lives, and she loved them all.
She was an active member of Millcreek Community Church since 1995. She also gave and donated so much to so many people.
In addition to her parents, Dorey is preceded in death by her best friend and husband, Terry Irwin; three sisters, Lois Peres, Joyce Clark and Shirley Chenault and a brother, Bill Carter.
Survivors include her two daughters, Tammy Jackson of Lake City and Tina Irwin of Erie; two grandsons, Terry Jackson and wife Suzy of Lake City and Brandon Foye of Erie; two great granddaughters, Sydney and Bella Jackson of Lake City and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Millcreek Community Church, 4444 Sterrettania Rd.. on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at 1:00 p.m.
We are completely heartbroken, but grateful that she is walking with the Lord and her husband.
Arrangements are entrusted to Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services Inc. Downtown, 602 W 10th St., Erie, Pa 16502.
