Dorothy Matilda Buffa, a cherished member of the Erie community, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2025, at the age of 93. Born on November 2, 1931, in Erie, Dorothy lived a life marked by devotion to her family, faith, and community.
Dorothy began her career at Marx Toys in Erie, where she was known for her strong work ethic and dedication. She later embraced her role as a mother to five children, a journey that brought her immense joy and purpose. To support her family, Dorothy worked at the school cafeteria for many years, providing not only meals but also warmth and kindness to the children she served.
As her own children grew into adulthood, Dorothy found new joys in the lives of her grandchildren. She was an enthusiastic volunteer at the voting polls, demonstrating her commitment to her community and civic duties. Her strong-willed and determined nature was balanced by a loving heart and a constant, welcoming smile.
Later in life, Dorothy found love with Francis Buffa, with whom she shared a deep and meaningful companionship. Together, they traveled to Italy and enjoyed precious moments with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren, creating memories that will be cherished by her family forever.
Dorothy is survived by her beloved husband, Francis (Frank) P. Buffa, and her children; Daughters: Debbie White and husband Ron, Kathy Bement and husband Rick, Janet Huntley and husband Patrick, Stepdaughter Ann Jelinek and husband Mike; Sons Stanley Walkiewicz and wife Roselle, John Walkiewicz and wife Gemma and Stepson Carlo Buffa. Many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great- grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by her husbands; Stanley F. Walkiewicz and Robert J. Trohoske. Her legacy continues through her family, who will remember her as a beacon of love and strength.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life and the indelible mark she left on those she knew. Visitation will be held Saturday, May 10, 2025 at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services Inc.,West Ridge, 3801 W.26th St. from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at which time Funeral Services will be held. Entombment will be in Gate of Heaven mausoleum.
Though Dorothy has departed from this world, she leaves behind a legacy of smiles and strength. She concealed her tears but shared her smiles freely. In God's embrace, she rests now, but in the hearts of her loved ones, she will live on eternally.
