Doris Hunter

December 27, 1951 — January 30, 2024

Albion, PA

It is with heavy hearts that we share our sister, mother, aunt, grandmother and wife, has lost her valiantly fought, over four year fight, with cancer.  Doris Hunter, age 73, passed away on January 30, 2024 at her residence.  Anyone who knew Doris would understand that she was not a quitter.

Doris never shirked her duties whether caring for her family, her many pets over the years, or her horses, she cared for them lovingly.  She rose to the challenges of remodeling the house, mowing the lawn, and when her home burned to the ground while her husband “Tom” was out of town, and she was at work, she managed to begin the process for a replacement home prior to his return.  Doris also enjoyed gardening, singing with her sisters and reading.

Doris enjoyed her professional life working for Wagner Giblin Insurance for close to 40 years. She took enjoyment in the many relationships developed with clients, and co-workers over the years.

The pride of her life was her grandson, Justin.  Spending time with "Bubby" was the best time she and he could have.  The many trips spent together, and the many events shared together were always held close to her heart.

Doris came from a family of six children:  Albert Boyd McAdoo Jr., William George McAdoo, Mrs. Joseph (Jean) Sappington, Mrs. John (Betty) Clark, and David Earl McAdoo.  She is preceded in death by her brothers, Albert, William and David, and her parents, Albert Boyd McAdoo Sr. and Rosabell Marie (DeVinney) McAdoo.   Doris was married to Edward Thomas Hunter for 53 years and they had one son, Thomas Russell Hunter   Doris's only grandson, Justin Thomas Hunter, was a tremendous help during her care process and provided Doris with unlimited aid and tender loving care.

It was Doris's wish to not have services on her behalf.  Further, just giving your dog or cat (or horse) an extra hug or treat would have meant so much to her!

Local arrangements entrusted to the Burton Funeral Home, Girard.
