Donald J. Lasher, age 76, of Erie, PA and Winterhaven, FL, passed away on Wednesday June 24, 2026 at UPMC Hamot. He was born on October 17, 1949 in Erie, PA, a son of the late Martin and Leona Ritter Lasher.
Don graduated from McDowell High School and pursued his passion for design at a technical school in Pittsburgh. He turned his mother’s dream into reality with a successful career as a draftsman at GE. An incredibly kind and generous soul, Don cherished his childhood summers spent helping his parents at their fishing camp in Canada, building a lifelong love for fishing. Whether he was out on his boat in Erie or Florida, he found joy in every catch. He also took pride in the variety of fish he kept in his magnificent aquariums. His garden was nothing short of a masterpiece, a true testament to his nurturing spirit. Plus, many will fondly remember his annual Christmas tradition of setting up an impressive tree with a train set that delighted family and friends.
Don also dedicated time in his retirement to help others, volunteering to transport cancer patients to their appointments
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister and her husband, Shirley and Fred Jones.
