Donald Berchtold

Donald Berchtold age 91, of Millcreek, passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2023 at LECOM Senior Living.

He was born in Erie on January 19, 1932 the son of the late Francis and Bessie Berchtold.

Donald graduated from Burns, Gridley, Erie Tech and the Academy of Aeronautics in NY.  He served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956 in  a newly formed unit of heavy aircraft maintenance in the 584^th Transportation Corps at Ft. Eustice, VA.

Don worked as a manipulator operator for Kaiser Aluminum for 33 years, retiring in 1992. 

He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. 

Donald was a car enthusiast, enjoyed woodworking, watching Nascar and traveling.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Janice Berchtold.

Don is survived by a son, Doug Berchtold (Marleen) of Savannah, GA; two daughters, Julie Molnar (Mike) of Erie and Vicki Haas (John) of N. Collins, NY; and five grandchildren, Mychal (fiancé Nicole Nuske), Mitch and Marissa Molnar, and Zachary and Austin Haas.

Friends may call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, West Ridge 3801 W. 26^th Street on Friday, October 20^th from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service at 6:30 p.m.
