Donald A. Bendure

Donald A. Bendure, age 63, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday June 10, 2023 at his residence.

He was born on September 2, 1959, in Erie, PA, the son of the late Frank and Shelby Hoover Bendure.

Don graduated from Fairview High School in 1977 and received his bachelor's degree from West Virginia Wesleyan College in 1981.    

He worked as a bar manager for the Fairview and Millcreek American Legions for many years and was a former proprietor of the Fairview Hotel.  He was a former member of Sons of American Legion in Fairview, Lake Erie Lodge 347 F.& A.M., Scottish Rite Valley of Erie; and Zem Zem Temple Shrine where he was a member of the Zem Zem Motor Corp.

He was an avid golfer, absolutely love being a Green Bay Packers fan and was a huge Van Halen fan. One of his favorite sayings was “Pick it up Rusty”. Donny was a unique individual and will be sadly missed by all that new him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Joseph Sabol.

He is survived by his daughter: Christina Bendure of Sumter, SC; a son, Alexander J. Bendure of Fairview; granddaughter, Katrina Bendure of Sumter, SC; two brothers, Thomas W. Bendure and his wife Carol, Fred J. Bendure; sister, Nancy M. Bendure Sabol, all of Fairview; former wife, Paula Ploszkiewicz; childhood friend, Don Farver and many nieces and a nephew.

Friends may call at Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Street East, Girard on Thursday June 15 from 2:00pm until a time of sharing at 5:00pm. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery at a later date.
