Donal Brian Bahrenburg of Sarasota, Florida died peacefully on May 17, 2026.

Don was born on June 9,1936 in Springfield, MA to the late Frederic E. and Marian M. Bahrenburg. He attended Darrow Preparatory School and graduated from Penn State University. Don began his career in Boston, MA with The New England Life Insurance Company. He then moved to Erie, PA, where he raised his family of four with Karen Brooks Bahrenburg. He worked for Bache & Co., McDonald & Co., and Prescott, Ball, & Turben as a registered representative in the New York Stock Exchange. After Erie, he moved to Sarasota, FL with his present wife, Judy Anderson, where he worked for Kemper Securities and Paine Webber. Don spent 52 years in the financial service industry helping clients secure their financial futures and retired in 2007 at the age of 72.

Don was the beloved husband of Judy Anderson for 42 years and the cherished father of Brook Bahrenburg, Christopher Bahrenburg (Maria Taranto), Douglas Bahrenburg, Kerry Coleman, and Debbie Tragesser (Steve). He had six grandchildren, Brittany Taranto, Jessica Bahrenburg, Jayme Bahrenburg, Kane Coleman, Cassi Coleman, Ashley Bahrenburg and four great grandchildren. Don was the loving uncle of Barbara Rock, Eric Bahrenburg, and Robert Bahrenburg. Don was preceded in death by Karen Brooks Bahrenburg; his brother Robert Bahrenburg (Lee); and cousin, Bruce Simpson (Eleanor).

Don attended St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, Erie, PA where he was instrumental in starting a successful Boy Scout troop. He most recently attended St. Margaret of Scotland Episcopal Church, Sarasota, FL. At St. Margaret’s he sang in the choir, served on the vestry, and attended a men’s Bible study. Don graduated from EFM (Education of Ministry) after an intensive four-year study of the bible.

Don enjoyed reading, golfing, theater, orchestra, deep-sea fishing, watching sports, traveling, and dining out. His most recent hobby was birding from his lanai window where he proudly documented more than 50 species.

Don’s family and friends would describe him as hardworking, a jokester, and a very giving person. Don was always quick to give a compliment and saw the best in everyone. He shared the presence of God with all he knew.

Funeral services will be held at St. Margaret of Scotland Episcopal Church, 8700 State Road 72, Sarasota, FL 34241, on June 9th, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at a later date in Erie, PA. Arrangements for condolences and remembrances to share with the family will be entrusted to Burton Quinn Scott Funeral Home at www.burtonquinnscott.com.
