Dolores “Dee” Katherine Lasher of Erie, went to be with our Lord on Thursday, April 24, 2025. She was born in California, PA on March 29, 1930, the daughter of the late William McKinley Hormell and Martha Rachel Johnson Hormell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lemuel Lasher, M.D. of Erie; two brothers, Attorney Oliver Nathaniel Hormell and Joseph Glenn Hormell; and a nephew, the Reverend Jay W. Hormell, all of California, PA.
Dee was a 1950 graduate of Western Penn School of Nursing in Pittsburgh, where she met her husband “Bob”. A devout Christian, she taught Sunday school and later became an assisting minister at Luther Memorial Church, where she also sang in the choir for over 30 years. She was past President of the Erie County Medical Auxiliary from 1975-1976, and President of the Pennsylvania Medical Auxiliary from 1985-1986. She was a member of the Junior League of Erie, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Erie Bridge Club, where she and her husband enjoyed playing duplicate bridge. She also served as First Lady of the Erie Yacht Club when her husband was the commodore, as well as on the Board of Managers and as vice-president for the Erie Infant’s Home.
A committed housewife, mother, and friend, Dee was the “hostess with the most-est.” She supported her husband in his every endeavor, and she instilled the values of faith, hope, and love in her children. She absolutely loved people. She always maintained a positive outlook on life, and she kept her friendly demeanor to the very end. She enjoyed sailing and skiing, the Erie Philharmonic and Playhouse, and travel. She and her husband visited every continent, except Antarctica. A sign above the galley on their yacht “Caliente” said it all: “My husband may be the Captain, but I’ve been appointed Admiral.”
We are grateful for her personal care aides from Asbury Home Services, Interim, and Mary Ebach and her team, who provided care to the end.
Dee is survived by her four sons, Robert Lemuel Lasher, Jr., and his wife Karul of Miami, Florida, and their children Aaron (Liz) Lasher and Elle (Tom) Lasher Walker; William Charles Lasher his wife Colleen of Erie, and their children Matthew (fiancé Nicole) Lasher, Kaydee Lasher, Kelsey (Kyle) Cunningham, and Meghan (Jeremy) Ore; John Scott Lasher and his wife Greta of Edinboro, and their children Everett (Margaret) Lasher, Elliott (Amanda) Lasher, and Eric (Taylor) Lasher; and David Brian Lasher and his wife Julie of Millcreek, and their children Giselle (Nick Fall) Main, Miranda Dennis, Ariel Main (fiancé Luis Quinones), Mary Lasher, and Tim (Tasia) Lasher.
