Dennis “Denny” Larry Schaefer age 65, of Fairview, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at UPMC Hamot following a brief illness.
He was born in McKean, Pa on November 9, 1947, a son of the late Donald and Joyce Nesbitt Schaefer.
Denny owned and operated Denny’s Auto Wrecking for over 35 years.
He was a member of the American Legion in Fairview and the VFW Post #740.
Denny loved boating and being out on the water. He also enjoyed attending auctions. He was very active in helping local volunteer fire departments especially in Fairview and McKean. He would do anything for anybody and would never expect anything in return. Denny enjoyed his free time with his friends and loved spending time with his granddaughter.
He is survived by his wife Geraldine “Geri” Mezzacapo Schaefer; a son, Aaron Schaefer; granddaughter, Nadine Schaefer; a sister, Darlene Cash; and three brothers, Dick, Sid, and Brad Schaefer and their families.
Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 W. 26th Street (at Powell Ave.) on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. with a time of sharing at 7:45p.m.
