Deborah Steele Ott

Deborah JoAnne (Steele) Ott, age 63, passed away, unexpectedly, on September 25, 2026.

Debbie, as she was called, was born July 21, 1963, in Erie, PA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Melburn and Lorraine (Curry) Steele and a sister, Sandra (Steele) Schnars.

She is survived by her loving husband, Raymond Ott, four children, Stephanie McElveen, and Justin Peters, both of Tampa, FL, Lindsay Peters and Marissa Peters, both of Erie, PA and eight grandchildren, whom she loved with her whole heart. She is also survived by three siblings, Katherine (Stephen) Zappacosta of Evans, GA, Kenneth (Linda) Steele of Pleasantville, PA, and Constance (Craig) Lydic of Bonita Springs, FL. She is further survived by a number of nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

Debbie graduated from Tech Memorial High School in 1981. She moved to Tampa, FL shortly after graduation where she lived for 11 years. She moved back to Erie where she pursued a career with MEZ at Gannon University for a number of years before leaving to raise her family. She was a stay at home mom, Nina (affectionately named by her grandchildren), and wife until her death.

Debbie was a very loving, compassionate, and giving person. She was happiest at her campsite with her husband and grandchildren. She was involved with planning many activities there. There will never be enough words to express how much she meant to her family. She was deeply loved, cherished, and treasured by all who were blessed to know her. Her love, strength, and beautiful spirit will live on through the memories she left behind and in the hearts of everyone she touched. Though we wish we had more time, we will carry her love with us forever.

Until we meet again, we love you to the moon and back, always and forever.

Private services will be handled by Burton Quinn-Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, 602 West 10th Street, Erie, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Breast Cancer Association, an organization that was near and dear to her heart.
