Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre; Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience. And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless. Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things. On Saturday, April 19, 2025, Deacon John W Gore of Erie PA peacefully passed away at home with his wife by his side. Born on August 22, 1933 in Laurel, Mississippi, Deacon Gore was the son of the late Rev. Julian Gore I and Lounett Barnett Gore.
In 1955, Deacon Gore was united in matrimony to Miss Rosa Mary Paige. To this union, five children were born. Deacon Gore began his journey with the Lord receiving the Holy Ghost in April of 1977 and never once looked back.
In addition to his parents, Deacon Gore is preceded in death by two of his children, Julius Gore I, Vickie M. Gore Collier, and siblings Clifton R Gore Sr., Mary E Gore Arrington and Julian A Gore II.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 70-years, Rosa M. Paige Gore.
Other survivors include his children: Antonio Gore I and Rose M Gore of Erie PA, Johnny B Gore (Brenda) of Phoenix AZ. Siblings: James Gore (Louise) and Pastor Willie E. Gore (Sandra) of Laurel Mississippi, 16 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 5 great, great grandchildren and countless nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. In addition, he leaves "cherished daughters" Stacy Blanks and Yolanda Davis.
Friends may call on Saturday May 3, 2025 at the Greater Bethlehem Temple Church, 4103 Washington Avenue, Erie, PA 16509. Visitation will be from 11am to 12:30pm at which time the homegoing service will begin with Elder John Crosby officiating and Pastor Joyce Ratcliff Moses eulogizing. Burial to follow in Erie County Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services Inc. Downtown, 602 W. 10th Street, Erie.
