David J. Roberts, Sr.

David J. Roberts, Sr., age 76, of Erie, passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2023 at St. Vincent Hospital.

He was born in Erie on February 23, 1947, a son of the late Lewis and Esther Torrance Roberts.

David was a graduate of Strong Vincent High School and attended Gannon University.  He served in the U.S. Air Force.

He worked at Steris for 29 years.  David was a Past Master of the Lawrence Lodge, Past Commander in Chief of the Erie Valley Scottish Rite, Past Patron Gridley Chapter O.E.S., Former Chapter Adviser of the Erie Ch. DeMolay, Advisory Board member of the Erie Rainbow, a member of the Eriez Forest Tall Cedars of Lebanon and a member of the Mount Olivet Commandry Knights Templar.

He was also very active in the Boy Scouts and was a BSA Committee Member, Snoopy’s Troop 109. David was also an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, and was Sunday School Superintendent and Sunday School Teacher.

David volunteered for Project Dignity and the Kearsarge Food Bank. He was also an avid Cleveland Sports fan and loved the Indians and the Browns.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Sharyn Roberts, his six children, Christina (Vince) Cannata, Lynda Roberts, Bethany (Chris) Spinelli, Adria (Steven) Comi, David J. Roberts, Jr. and Bobbi (Alex) Harkleroad; six grandchildren, Katarina, Kelly, Vincent, Grayson, Finn and Athena.

Friends may call at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2216 Peach Street, on Friday, June 2, 2023 from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the Masonic service conducted by the Perry Keystone Lodge No. 392 F & AM at 1:30 p.m. A Celebration of Life Service will then start immediately following the Masonic Service with the Reverend Kristen Papson officiating.

Inurnment will be in Erie Cemetery.
