David James Ras

November 29, 1947 — June 2, 2024

David James Ras, of Erie, passed away peacefully, lovingly surrounded by family and friends on Sunday, June 2, 2024 at his residence.

Dave was the resolute son of late John Ras, Sr. and Pearl Lubomski Ras and spent his lifetime contributing to the city he loved.

He graduated from Strong Vincent High School in 1965, and proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserves for 6 years. As the third-generation owner, Dave was tireless in his commitment to both the associates and customers of Ras Auto Body, and it thrived under his selfless leadership.

A humble individual that was happiest when he was serving others, Dave balanced family and work with volunteer efforts, including Big Brothers and Sisters and Make a Wish Foundation. Everyone that knew him loved him for his generosity and kind spirit. From homemade holiday pies and frozen turkeys to bushels of corn and pints of strawberries, Dave spread joy and did it with contagious laughter and a shy smile.

Preceded in death by his parents and brother Gerald Ras. Survivors include daughters Amy Lynn Ras and her partner Dave Heubel, Keri Anne O’Sullivan and husband Michael, fiancé Debra Peterson, sister Carol Ras Norris, brothers John and Donald Ras, as well as three nieces and two nephews.
