David Albert Gesue died peacefully at home on June 30th 2025 in Erie Pa.
Born June 8th, 1947 in New Castle, PA, David attended New Castle High school and graduated from Gannon University in Erie. An English literature major, David wrote for the Erie Press and went on to teach English at Culver Military Academy in Indiana. He transitioned into fundraising for educational and hospital foundations, which took him to Warren General Hospital, Buffalo General Hospital and UPMC in Pittsburgh. In his retirement, he returned to his true passion of teaching at New Wilmington school district outside New Castle, PA. David’s passion for teaching shined through in the attention he gave to students and staff alike.
David was an avid collector of shotguns and antiques and loved estate sales and auctions. The homes he and his wife owned had a unique style and comfortable flare, even being recognized on the “Homes Tour” in the PIttsburgh Post Gazette. He enjoyed country side road trips, reading classic literature, and discussing movies and music. David was an excellent cook and always welcomed people to the table. David was an animal lover and would always brake for turtles, and was never in too much of a hurry to help them off the road.
David was preceded in death by his dogs Charlie and Jack and cats Harry, Rudy and Scoobie. He is survived by his beloved wife Helen and children, Phillip, Nicholas and Maggie and their families, three sweet grandchildren, many cousins and friends, and Bruno and Buddy, his furry kids.
