Dale Michael Stubenhofer, 74 of Girard, passed away at his home Saturday July 19, 2025, after an extended illness.

He was born in Erie, PA on February 14, 1951, the son of Kathleen (Berger) Stubenhofer and the late Donald J. Stubenhofer

Dale was a 1969 graduate of Cathedral Prep School, Dale played football for the Ramblers and was a lifelong fan of the team and the sport. Dale spent many Friday nights taking his dad to the stadium to watch the game. Cindy considered it “date night” with stadium hot dogs and cocoa. Dale and Frank F coached the Harborcreek Little Gridders 2002 and 2003 Cowboys team.

Dale played rec softball for the Heavy Metal team. He followed baseball as a lifelong Cleveland Indians fan. He followed the Indianapolis Colts.

Dale worked for over 30 years as a CNC operator for General Electric. He was passionate about the rights of the working man and participated in the UE 506 while working for General Electric. An active union member, he held many board positions. He was part of the UE 506 negotiators team fighting corporate cutbacks. Many strong friends were made through the Union. Dale had many life interests, using creativity, attention to detail, and always striving to improve; he became a musician, woodworker, and a computer repairman. He taught himself to play the guitar at 14. He and his lifelong friend Larry K formed their first band, the Rebels, as high school freshmen. He claimed to “play 60’s music in the 60’s”. He was a part of the Eddy Jackson Band, Bill Feathers, Fugitive, and Fire Side to name a few. Woodworking gave him a creative outlet. Dale made many wonderful items chests, tables, picture frames and many outdoor items. The Erie Kennel Club benefited from Dale’s industry. It could be said that Dale and Norm Abram had a contest of “who acquired the next great tool first”. In the 1990s Dale bought his first computer. Once he started using it, he taught himself to build, repair, and improve computers. Many friends and family brought their sick computer to him to fix. The dining room table was the operating room.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Larry and John Stubenhofer and son, James Collins.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his brother Danny (Coreen) of Erie, and sister Mary Margaret (Tom) Prugar of ME and his wife of 38 years, Cynthia (Graff) Stubenhofer; daughters: Cheryl (Christopher) Palaszewski of SC and Gwen (Roger)Stubenhofer of FL; sons, Eric (Cheryl) Stubenhofer of Erie; Seth (Bonnie) Collins of GA; a granddaughter, who he adopted as a daughter, Lillian Collins; and grandchildren: Justin, Brian, Anthony and Rachel Palaszewski of SC, Joshua(Liz) Stubenhofer of FL, Samantha, Eric Jr.(Rosemary), Joseph, Courtney, Andrew Stubenhofer of Erie, Sara (Chase) Collins of AL, Nathaniel and Samuel Collins of GA. Two Great Grandsons Brantley and Aiden. Survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews

The family would like to thank Kate, Sandy, Dawn, Jess and Dr Carter of VNA Hospice for nearly 2 years of care.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday August 31, 2025.
