Dale Lance Casteel, age 80, of Erie, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at his residence, surrounded by family.
Dale was born June 9th, 1945 in Hazelton, WV, a son to the late George and Nellie (Sisler) Casteel.
Dale was a welder and inspector at AMSCO/Steris for 30 years. He also operated his own business, Dales Trenching Service, for many years. In his lifetime, he has owned over 200 cars. He completely restored his 1955 Chevy Belaire and won numerous awards, as well as awards for his homemade beer and wine. Above all, he had so much love and dedication for his family.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife of 36 years, Nina Jean Silbaugh Casteel; brothers, Wayne, Clarence, Burley, Buddy, and Billy; sisters, Mildred, Alberta, Margaret, Betty, Lucy, and Shirley; stepson, Robert Maust Jr.; and grandson, Jesse Starry.
Dale is survived by his wife of 24 years, Faye; daughters, Veronica Zaleski (Mike), of Erie, Kimberly Starry (Gregg), of Somerset, KY, Melissa Harrington (Gregg), of McKean, PA, Stacey Casteel, of Erie, Marie Casteel (Greg Hayes), of Champaign, IL; a sister, Hazel Fike (Delmus), of Farmington, PA. As well as 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to call at Burton Quinn-Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, West Ridge, 3801 W. 26th St., Erie, PA 16505 on Saturday, January 24th from 12 PM until the time of service there at 3 PM. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
