Craig Brown

November 20, 1944 — March 5, 2012

Owner of Professional Recovery and City Wide Towing

     Craig L. Brown, 67, of Harborcreek Twp., died Mon., March 5, 2012 as the result of an auto accident.  He was born Nov. 20, 1944 in Erie, son of the late Harold F. Brown and Dorothy Louise Myers Brown Mickol.  A 1962 graduate of Academy High School, he attended Gannon and Northern Michigan Universities, and was a veteran of the U.S. Air force serving as a Sergeant during the Vietnam Conflict.  He worked for Hammermill Paper Co. for several years before starting his own business, Professional Recovery, Inc, which he owned and operated for the past 35 years.  He also owned and operated City Wide Towing for the past 12 years.  Craig, a member of Luther Memorial Church, had been a longtime member of the former Bethany Lutheran Church where he served on Church Council for many years.  He also served on the board of Tri State Rail Federal Credit Union (Conrail) and was a member of Perry-Keystone Lodge No. 392 F.& A.M.; Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Erie; Zem Zem Shrine; SVEA Lodge, No. 296, VASA Order of America; Time Finance Adjusters; National Finance Adjusters; and the Maennerchor and Shrine Clubs.  Craig was a loving and caring grandfather and will always be remembered for his passion for cars.
      Survivors include  his beloved wife and best friend of 45 years, Cheryl Youngberg Brown; three sons, Michael David Brown and wife Teresa of Columbia Heights, MN, Patrick Sean Brown and wife Maria of Erie and Jon Eric Brown of Hermitage, PA; two sisters, Karen Maker and husband Peter and Louise Berger and husband James, all of Erie; a brother, Gary Brown and wife Sandy of Pine Springs, MN; three grandchildren, Rebecca and Allison Brown of Erie and Ian Brown of Hermitage, PA; his stepmother, Myrna Brown of Erie; a stepsister, Gretchen Armes of Erie; and many nieces and nephews.  His stepfather, Leo Mickol preceded him in death.
     Friends may call Friday 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Scott Funeral Home, 2104 Myrtle Street.  A service will be held at Luther Memorial Church, 225 W. 10th St., Saturday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. William Coleman officiating.  Burial will be at Erie Cemetery with military honors conducted by Erie Crawford County Burial Detail.  Memorials may be made to Luther Memorial Church, 225 W. 10th St., Erie, PA 16501; Bethany Outreach Center/Food Pantry, 225 W. 10th St. Erie, PA 16501; or to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 1645 W. 8th St., Erie, PA 16505.  Perry-Keystone Lodge No. 392 F.& A.M. will conduct services Friday at 7 p.m.
