Clare Marie Farrell

Clare Marie (Morehouse) Farrell, age 85, of Erie passed away Friday, September 1, 2023, at home with her family at her side. She was born in Erie on June 23, 1938, the oldest daughter of the late Kenneth and Clare (McNerney) Morehouse.

Clare, a 1956 Villa Maria Academy graduate, graduated from Villa Maria College in 1960, with a B.S. in Elementary Education. She spent her 33 yearlong teaching career at Hamilton and Grover Cleveland Elementary Schools, retiring in 1993.

Clare was always active in her community, serving as a member of the Erie Woman’s Club, Delta Kappa Gamma, PA Association of School Retirees, National Education Association, and Erie Hunt and Saddle Club to name a few. Clare enjoyed her time as Treasurer for the Erie Woman’s Club for 21 years, as a past president of Delta Kappa Gamma, and as the District Commissioner for the Lost Hounds Pony Club.

Clare, a lifelong member of St. Peter Cathedral, valued her time spent with family and friends. She, and her late husband Tim of 60 years, enjoyed their retirement years playing Bridge with their friends, Euchre with the family, traveling across the U.S. and spending time with their children and grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Kenneth Jr. Morehouse. Clare is survived by 2 daughters, Peggy Farrell of Erie and Patricia Farrell- Johnson (Russell Johnson III) of Richmond, VA., and siblings James Morehouse (Donna), Carol A. Morehouse, SSJ, and Patricia Morehouse Bernik. She is the proud grandmother of 7; Brittany Bernik (Mason Fox), Brianna Kreisher (Kara), Russell Johnson IV, Carley Wood, Charles Johnson, Timothy Johnson, and David Johnson. Also surviving are 3 great-grandchildren, Lilah, Lucas, and Nora and several nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, West Ridge, 3801 West 26^th St. on Friday, September 8, 2023 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm with further visiting on Saturday in St. Peter Cathedral from 9:00 am until the time of a Funeral Mass at 10:00 am. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Erie Woman’s Club, 259 West 6^th St., Erie, PA 16507.
