Claire Rinderle, age 99, of Erie, died peacefully on October 21, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Claire was born in Buffalo, NY on January 14, 1927. She attended East High School in Erie.

On October 1, 1949, she married Robert “Bob” Rinderle, her husband of 62 years until his death in 2012. Together they raised seven children and built a home known for its large family gatherings and good food. Her family will tell you that they can still feel what it was like to be in her home. It was a place of love, comfort, and belonging that was nurtured by Claire herself.

Claire and Bob were founding members of Saint Jude the Apostle Church, and she is admired for her strong faith and devotion to Saint Anne, the patron saint of mothers and grandmothers. She was proud of her Polish heritage, and she enjoyed polka dancing and making delicious Polish food. She also enjoyed playing card games with her family, and making them laugh with her quick and humorous wit. Claire and Bob enjoyed planting a garden and canning many fruits and vegetables, a family favorite was her dilly beans. The family enjoyed many camping trips, and Claire and Bob loved taking trips to New England in the fall and Florida in the winter months.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Lynn Grant (Bill), Robert Rinderle (Liz), Timothy Rinderle (Jennifer), Jill Wheeler (Jeff), and Eric Rinderle (Melissa); her son-in-law, Bruce Boyce; her 16 grandchildren, Robin DeHaven, Kelly Boyce, Sarah Boyce, Laura McLoughlin, Julie Fetzner, Jennifer Budacki, Erin Rinderle, Ashley Sheehan, Stephen Rinderle, Lauren Rinderle, Tricia Claire Rinderle, Logan Rinderle, Jason Wheeler, Ryan Wheeler, Braden Wheeler, and Benjamin Rinderle; and her 15 great-grandchildren, with another on the way. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Rinderle; her parent Agnes and Julius Sedziak; her brother, Ronald Sedziak, and his wife, Emily; and her daughters, Gail Boyce and Lisa Rinderle.

Claire’s family would like to thank the staff of Manchester Commons for their excellent care and friendship.
