Claire Terella, age 93 of Erie, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2022.
She was born in Erie on June 12, 1928 to the late Frank and Pearl Ras. As a young woman she helped in the World War II effort as a riveter and also worked at the famed Boston Store in downtown Erie. At age 19, Claire married her great love Edward Terella at Blessed Sacrament. They met while she was waitressing at Flints Diner and the two were married 68 years. In addition to raising five children, she was an artist, painting porcelain and watercolors. For a time she served as president of the Keystone China Painters Club and later had artwork displayed in the Bayfront Gallery.
In addition to her parents, Claire was preceded in death by Edward in 2016 at age 90, and their son, Glenn Terella, who passed in 2005 at age 50.
A devoted mother, Claire is survived by her children Tom and his wife Linda Terella; Daryl Terella; Tami (Terella) Faram all of Erie and Carrie (Terella) Henman and her husband Eric of Georgia; daughter-in-law Beth Terella and her sister Betty Dusicsko both of Fairview. Claire is further survived by nine grandchildren Angela Terella; Matthew Terella (Julie); Tim Terella (Megan); Rick Terella (Desiree); Huntir Terella; Jaclyn Gaudette (Jason); Amanda Henman; Sophia Faram; Hannah Henman; six great-grandchildren Jocelyn Terella; Nathaniel Terella; Trevor Terella; Peyton Terella; Paisley Terella and Madelyn Terella and several nieces and nephews.
Claire resided most recently at Westlake Woods. Our family is grateful to the staff for their kindness and care. We are especially thankful to her hospice nurse, Mary Pollard of Heartland.
Family and friends may call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, 3801 W. 26th Street on Saturday, May 14th from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. Burial to follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
