Christopher Michael Ritter

July 18, 1985 — February 24, 2024

Christopher Michael Ritter, age 38, of Chagrin Falls, Ohio and formerly of Erie, Pennsylvania, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital.

He was born in Erie on July 18, 1985 to David J. and Gayle J. Ballman Ritter.

Christopher graduated from Central High School in 2003 and then earned his Welding Degree from Erie Institute of Technology.  He later attended Mercyhurst University and Lakeland Community College.  He worked at General Electric, Ridge Rack, Erie Strayer and most recently as a Lead Welder for Process Technology in Mentor, Ohio.

Chris loved to ride his Harley-Davidson Motorcycle, he was a gifted welder-fabricator and he enjoyed playing video games.  Chris had a soft-spot for animals; his dogs Khan, Timber and Lucy adored him as much as he adored them.  Chris found his greatest joy in his family.  He was a loving son to his parents, he had unending gratitude for their unwavering love and support.  Chris was a devoted father to his children.  He was so proud of his daughter for her kind soul and told everyone how smart she is.  He loved to cuddle and play with his son, who always filled him with joy and happiness. As a husband, Christopher was nothing short of a blessing.  He honored every word of the vows he made to his wife – loving, honoring and cherishing her every day.   Chris was known for his strength of character, mind and body, and he took pride in providing for his family and protecting them.  Chris was also known for his hugs – they were the safest place in the world.  His humor and wit were appreciated by his friends and family every day.  Intelligent, loyal and hardworking, Chris always gave 100% in everything.  Chris was brave, he never backed down – not even to cancer – he fought with courage and tenacity to the very end for the sake of the ones he loved.

Christopher was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Richard and Elaine Ballman; paternal grandmother, Joan Ritter; aunt, Linda St. George (Fred); and father-in-law, Douglas Sherman.

Chris is survived by his wife, Victoria L. Sherman Ritter; his daughter, Ivy Ritter, his son, Owen Ritter; a brother, Richard  L. Ritter (Schylar) of Erie; mother and father Gayle J. and David J. Ritter of Erie; mother-in-law, Tina Sherman of Mentor, OH; uncle, Ken Ballman of Union City; sister-in-law; Sara Mustard (Bill)  of Mentor, OH; nephew Liam and niece Alana of Mentor, and paternal grandfather, Lawrence Ritter.   Christopher is further survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
