Christine Pleger

Christine Marie Ceresa Crosby Pleger, age 92 of 641 West 6th Street, passed away Monday, November 5, 2012 at St. Mary's Home of Erie.

She was born in Falconer, NY on February 10, 1920, daughter of the late John and Laura Cardinale Ceresa.

She worked for many years at General Electric and the Moose Club.

Christine was a well-known businesswoman in Erie since the 1960's, owning and operating the Velvet Room, a nightclub and restaurant, and the Richford Hotel. She owned and operated Christine Pleger Apartments until her death.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband Paul Crosby, her second husband Ewald "Abe" Pleger, two sisters: Geraldine Ward and Marion Quillen, and a brother John Ceresa.

Survived by three daughters: Mrs. Marjorie Rue of Lexington, KY; Mrs. Saundra Corey of Las Vegas, NV; and Dr. Charlene Bebko of Pittsburgh, PA; a brother LaVerne Ceresa of San Jancinto, CA; four grandchildren: Holly Christine Arestad, Trina Marie Frye, and Laura Christine Bebko. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 602 West 10th Street on Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. until the time of service there at 2 p.m. with Reverend Charles Cammarata officiating.

Burial in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
