Christine McShane, born April 29, 1957, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and, most recently, great-grandmother, passed away suddenly on Friday, July 3, 2026.
Known affectionately as "Nana" to her family and those closest to her, Christine's greatest joy was caring for the people she loved.
She leaves behind her devoted husband of 47 years, James McShane Sr., with whom she shared a lifetime of love, travel, and treasured memories with family and friends. She is also survived by her sons, James McShane Jr. and Sean McShane Sr.; her daughter, Jennifer Silman, and her husband, Roger; her siblings, Al Eggleston and his wife, Lesa, who faithfully and lovingly cut and colored Christine's hair for many years; Jennifer Gregg and her husband, Dale; Patricia Kinney; and Susan Lawrence and her husband, Michael.
She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Kristyne McShane Clark and her husband, Zach; Christopher Silman; Casey McShane; and Sean McShane Jr. She was especially blessed to meet her first great-granddaughter, Maevis Kinsley Clark, the newest and most treasured addition to the family. Though their time together was far too brief, Maevis brought Christine immeasurable joy, and she was already well on her way to spoiling her beloved great-granddaughter.
Christine is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Pat Gombita, Maureen Canfield, and Peggy Hammett. More than sisters-in-law, they were sisters in spirit, cherished traveling companions, and lifelong friends. Maureen was also Christine's beloved "partner in crime" during their many trips to the hairdresser.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Dorothy Eggleston, and by her brothers, Robert Eggleston and Michael Eggleston.
When she wasn't traveling, Christine loved spending time at home watching sports and Court TV while crocheting countless dishcloths, placemats, baby blankets, and knitted hats. Many of her handmade creations were donated to the Sunshine Group of Erie, while countless others were lovingly given to family and friends. She found great happiness in doing for others, especially her grandchildren and her precious great-granddaughter, Maevis.
Christine also enjoyed browsing thrift stores and garage sales in search of hidden treasures. Above all, she loved caring for the many pets who shared her life over the years and leaves behind her beloved companions, Lacie, Millie, and Milo.
