Charles "Cork" Hill

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles “Cork” F. Hill, age 93, on August 19, 2025, at the Erie VA Medical Center after a short illness.

He was born on December 15, 1931, in Erie, Pennsylvania, to the late Erwin and Lucille (Smith) Hill.

After graduation from Strong Vincent High School, Cork served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Following his military service, he worked with various industries including Dahlkempers and Sanida Dairy.

Cork was a family man in every sense of the word and loved his children. He was an avid fisherman, a pastime that brought him joy until November of 2024. Additionally, he enjoyed bowling and his time as an umpire for softball games at 12th and Hess in the 1960s.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Roward and Jean Meyn.

He leaves behind to cherish him in memory, his devoted wife, Charlotte (Howland) Hill; his children, Robert Hill (Debbie), Sharon Weigle (Robert), David Hill, Stephen Hill (Laurie) and Scott Hill (Megan); grandchildren, Michael (Becky), Matthew (Heather), Christopher (Biz), Jason (Channah), Gregg (Sarah), Zachary, Ashley, Brenna and Delaney and great grandchildren, Benjamin, Cooper, Colin, Derek, Dylan, Kendall, Logan, Olivia, Owen, Payton and Sulley and step great grandchildren, Savanna, Morgan and Carter. He is further survived by his sister, Janet Heider and brother, Bill Hill (Joyce).

The family would like to thank the countless nurses, doctors, and particularly to Kathy and Emily from social services, as well as the Service Delivery Team, who offered their compassion and support during Cork’s final days.
