Charles W. "Chuck" Donnelly

Charles W. “Chuck” Donnelly passed peacefully at Nightingale Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Friday, November 7, 2025. He was born in Erie, PA on August 4, 1945, the son of the late Charles A. Donnelly and Katherine (Shay) Donnelly.

Chuck attended St. Andrew Grade School, Cathedral Prep (class of 1964), and Erie Business Center. He then joined the family business, Donnelly Hardware and Plumbing, retiring in 2006.Chuck was active in his parish, St. Jude the Apostle Catholic church where he served as Eucharistic Minister. He was a Fourth-Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council 11313 serving in various positions and helping with many projects and activities.

Chuck also enjoyed many years of volunteering for the Boy Scouts of America French Creek Council. He received numerous awards recognizing his dedication, involvement, and accomplishments throughout his years in Scouting. Chuck enjoyed the bi-monthly “Engineer Days” with his buddies working to maintain Camp Custaloga Town. Scouting provided many lasting friendships to develop for Chuck.

Chuck is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nancy (Collman) Donnelly, and their son Brian Donnelly of Savannah GA. He is further survived by a special cousin, Jane Schlaudecker Zawadzki, her husband Bob, their children Mary Kay Keith (husband Colin), and Michael and a niece Emily Schlaudecker Long (husband Zach). Also surviving are many wonderful cousins and his “Collman Family.”

Chuck was a source of happiness for all he encountered and will be remembered for his joyful smile. He appreciated the many prayers, thoughtfulness, and support for himself, his wife, and son during his illness. He was blessed with a good life and shared that goodness in so many ways with others.

Friends are invited to call at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic church, 2801 W.6th St., Erie on Friday, November 14, 2025 from 9:30 am until 11:00 am at which time a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

Memorials in Chuck’s honor may be made to the Sisters of St. Joseph Mission and Ministry Foundation (5031 West Ridge Road, Erie PA 16506 or AseraCare Hospice (12664 Route 19 South Unit1A, Waterford PA 16441).
