Charles Lloyd Brown Jr.

Charles Lloyd Brown Jr., 94 of Millcreek, died peacefully at home, August 1, 2026.

Charles was born in Pittsburgh on February 28, 1932, the son of the late Charles Lloyd and Minnie (Kaufmann) Brown.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Patricia, his sister, Marietta Brown Knuth, his daughter, Suzanne, son-in-law John Honecker, and their son, Jake. He was also predeceased by son-in-law, Andy Zafiropoulos.

Four daughters survive him: Julie Brown (James Gnarra), Elaine Baldwin (Cliff), Elizabeth Zafiropoulos, Colleen Thomas (John), and son Charles L. Brown III, twelve grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren.

His family moved to Erie in 1947. He graduated from Erie Tech, lettering in football, basketball, and track. He served in the Army in Korea, assigned to the 5th Regimental Combat Team, E Company, and was honorably discharged. He was awarded the Korean Ambassador for Peace Medal by the South Korean government for his service to its people during the conflict.

Charles worked for Bucyrus Erie from 1951 until it closed in 1984 and retired at the age of 52. He loved telling people that he was retired longer than he worked!

He married the love of his life, Patricia Murray, on October 25, 1957. He was proud to walk his daughters down the aisle to many great sons-in-law. Pat and Chuck did nearly everything together, enjoying a very special bond. They were truly best friends.

In summer, he loved camping at Letchworth State Park with his children and grandchildren. One of the greatest adventures of his life was in the summer of 1976 when he and Pat traveled with their six kids, visiting Yellowstone, Yosemite, and Grand Canyon National Parks. Chuck’s dream came true when he purchased a new motor home. They traveled extensively throughout the United States. 

We find comfort in knowing that Dad’s legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the wonderful family memories we will cherish forever. He has said the best name he was ever called was “Daddy” and “If I could go back in time, I would do it all over again. It was a wonderful life!”.

Visiting hours at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services Inc. West Ridge, 3801 West 26th Street, to be held Tuesday, August 4th from 4 to 7 pm and Wednesday from 11 am to 1 pm with service to follow. Burial in Laurel Hill Cemetery with Full Military Honors rendered by the Millcreek American Legion Post #773.
