Carolyn Louise Carner, age 84, of Fairview, passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 29, 2026, at her residence.

She was born in Uniontown, PA on December 21,1941, she was the daughter of the late Clinton and Edna Keiser Deffenbaugh.

Carolyn graduated from McDowell High School in 1959 and married her high school sweetheart on March 22, 1960. She worked as a CNA, Activities Director, and Receptionist at Pleasant Ridge Manor for over 40 years. She actively participated with many community organizations, recently being named an honorary member of the Fairview Garden Club. She loved her garden and was most often found weeding and tending to the many flowers on her property. To know Carolyn was to experience the beauty of the world through her eyes by the way she invited you to participate in her life. She loved Jesus and the joy she found in Him radiated from her. She had many gifts but embodied art with everything she did and taught her family how to see the world through a lens of curiosity and joy. Carolyn was a locally recognized artist, selling her pieces and winning awards for her beautiful works of art. She lived for the adventure and created ordinary moments into extraordinary ones. She would do whatever it took to kayak or ride her bike – riding her bike the 12 miles to Presque Isle, around and back. Carolyn loved serving. She made hundreds of cookies for events, lavished gifts on her family and friends, painted and created countless items for benefits and recalled fondly her time as a Youth for Christ Mentor. Carolyn always showed up for her family. No matter the distance, you could expect a card or a visit from her and Clark. Carolyn was the glue to the family as she remembered everyone and everything about them, even as her health declined. She wrote in one of her many notebooks “Our circumstances have nothing to do with our Joy. It’s in Him!” Carolyn is living her life word “Joy” as she walks with her Savior in the garden.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Marjorie Anne Freebourn.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Clark D. Carner; five children: Cheri Ramirez (Adrian), Dave Carner (Julie), Cristy Miller (Tim), Darren Carner (Michelle), and Dennis Carner (Bethany); twenty grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; a sister, Sandra Feidler; and many nieces and nephews.
