Carol Snyder, age 76, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at her residence following an extended illness.
Carol was born on November 22, 1947, in Niagara Falls, Ontario, to the late Edwin and Helen Mann Grimstead.
A free spirit blessed with unbreakable determination, Carol brought joy and inspiration to all who knew her. Her work and career ranged from homemaking and direction of the junior church choir when her children were young, to work in support and service and caregiving to the elderly and disabled. Carol was famed for her mastery of crafting in countless media from ceramics and porcelain painting to jewelry, textiles, and tole painting.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her former husband and dear friend, Robert Snyder; life partner, Michael Ochrang; brother, James Grimstead; and Lonnie Gillespie, for whom she lovingly served as a caregiver for as long as she was able.
She is survived by her siblings, Patricia Pridham and Edwin Grimstead, both of Ontario; her children, Heath Snyder, of Girard, Marnie Woodworth, of Lake City and Jeremy Snyder (husband Eric), of Erie; grandchildren Jacara Reynolds (husband Justin), Tyler Woodworth, Reece Snyder (wife Emily), and Keifer Snyder; and great-grandchildren Nora Snyder and Oren Reynolds. She leaves beloved family and friends with fond memories of her talent, her joy, her wry wit, and powerful lessons on the strength and courage of the human spirit.
