Carol LeCorchick of Erie died peacefully in her home on Thursday, December 18, 2025, following a short battle with cancer. She was 76-years-old, an age she considered “a good run.”

Daughter of the late James and Mary Rita Dougherty, Carol graduated from St. James School, Villa Maria Academy (where she was elected May Queen of her class), and Villa Maria College, where she earned a degree in Education. She treasured her career as an elementary school teacher; establishing the kindergarten program at Holy Rosary School before spending many years with the Erie School District, primarily at Edison and Glenwood Schools.

To know Carol was to love her. She cultivated lifelong friendships and lived to dote on her four grandchildren, who called her Mimi. She radiated kindness and love but had a sense of humor that reminded everyone she was indeed human.

Carol felt exceedingly lucky to have been given warning of her impending death. When deciding how to spend this time, she changed almost nothing. She lived intentionally - listening to live music, staying active, and packing in as many visitors, crafts, meals, and happy hours as possible. She never missed an opportunity to attend her grandchildren’s sporting events or school mass. While she referred to this active period as her “farewell tour,” her loved ones took solace in the fact that she’d lived a life of such authenticity and contentment, that when put on a tight timeline, she simply wanted to carry on as she always had.

Carol is survived by children, Lindsay Jensen (husband Luke) of Nashville, TN, and Jeff LeCorchick (wife Lisa) of Erie; grandchildren Lilly, Lincoln, Lennox, and Lena LeCorchick; siblings James (Pat) Dougherty of Erie; Mary Louise Hartwell (husband Jim) of Jacksonville, FL; and Jeanne Shaw (husband Greg) of Erie. Carol is further survived by many dear friends, particularly Jackie DeFazio and Debbie Brasington whose friendship and care brought immeasurable comfort; loving companion, Jim Thieman; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A special thanks to “favorite cousin” Lori Kaveney, Dianne Cunningham, and Phyllis Herbstritt for compassion and care during Carol’s final weeks.
