It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carl Edward Kaminski, who passed away unexpectedly on February 14, 2026, at the age of 66.
Carl was born on November 29, 1959, in Erie, PA, to Frank and Mary (Sajewski) Kaminski. The youngest of six children, he graduated from Twin Tech Memorial High School in 1977.
For over four decades, Carl and his wife, Sara (Baranski) Kaminski, built a steady and loyal life together. He was a devoted husband to Sara, father to Alison Kaminski and Angela Otto (John Otto), and proud grandfather to Samuel and Benjamin Otto.
From his earliest days, Carl had a deep passion for sports, especially baseball. He remained active throughout his life, playing in various leagues and forming many lifelong friendships. In recent years, he found great joy in watching his grandsons play and cheering them on from the sidelines.
Landscaping was both Carl’s vocation and passion. He began his career at Dahlkemper Landscape and Maintenance, where he became highly skilled in designing thoughtful and carefully tended yards. He had a natural eye for balance and beauty. The flower beds he created for his wife and daughters were simple, lasting expressions of his love and care. He later continued his career at St. Vincent Hospital, where he worked for more than 20 years before retiring in January 2025.
Carl loved nature and spending time outdoors, including visits to Presque Isle. He enjoyed traveling, visiting gardens, and attending concerts. He also valued the friendships he built over the years through work, sports, and everyday life, staying connected to those who meant a great deal to him. Time spent with his family and friends meant the most to him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary Kaminski, and by his siblings Frank Kaminski, Lawrence Kaminski, Nancy Eckert, and sister-in-law Susan Greggs. He is survived by his wife, daughters, son-in-law, grandsons, siblings Phillip Kaminski (Mary Ellen) and Linda Alonge (Jim), sister-in-law Sharon Baranski, brother-in-law John Baranski (Terri), many nieces and nephews, and a circle of lifelong friends who were an extension of his family.
Family and friends are invited on Monday, February 23, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services Inc. Wintergreen, 2532 Norcross Road, Erie, PA 16510. A 10:00 AM funeral service will be held there on Tuesday.
Memorial donations may be made to the Presque Isle Partnership to support Presque Isle State Park and its ongoing conservation and community programs. To give in Carl’s memory, please select the “In Memory” option.
