Brian W. Schnars

Brian W. Schnars, 66, of West Springfield, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Hamot Hospital surrounded by his children after a short illness.

He was born on November 10, 1957, in Erie PA, the son of the late Ivan W. Schnars and Doris L. Stroschier Schnars.

He was a graduate of Tech Memorial High School, class of 1976 and up until his retirement in 2013, he worked for Glenwood Beer Distributors. He enjoyed working many of his Saturday and Sunday nights during the racing season with Stateline and Eriez Speedways.

He enjoyed watching NASCAR, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates, bowling, music, and Rachel Maddow on MSNBC.  Above all, he loved and cherished his friends and family, especially his grandchildren who made his older years of life an absolute joy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 26 years, Sandra L. Steele-Schnars; his sister, Karen A. Schnars; his nephew Andrew G. Schnars of Ohio; and most recently, one of his closet and dearest friends, John E. Varner of Centerville.

He is survived by three children, his two sons Michael P. Schnars (Stacey) of Girard and Kevin B. Schnars of Erie; his daughter, Michelle D. Schnars of West Springfield; five brothers, Ivan J. Schnars, Robert T. Schnars, Mark A. Schnars, Timothy S. Schnars, all of Erie, and Matthew G. Schnars of Ohio; four grandchildren, Karmyndy, Kolton, Robert and Angela and one great grandchild, Elliot, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Services were held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements were entrusted to the Burton Funeral Home, Girard.
