Brian Paul O’Connell (Sr) (65), born October 5, 1960, passed away on July 13, 2026, while battling an aggressive leukemia. Brian was a son of the late Stephen and Mary O’Connell. He is survived by his three sons - Brian O’Connell (Jr) (Eva Del Prince), Sean O’Connell, and Jeffrey O’Connell. He is also survived by his three brothers - Scott O’Connell (RoseAnne Reuscher), Mark O’Connell (wife Leah), and Daniel O’Connell. And is also survived by his wife Halle (separated), former wife Karen, former wife Kelly Burnett (mother of his children), sister-in-law Aunt Laura, and by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Brian was born in Hawaii while his dad was serving in the Navy. The family moved to Erie when he was young and he graduated from McDowell High School. Brian had a unique talent for furniture repair. He operated his own business, O’Connell Upholstery, for 45 years, concurrently working for John V. Schultz for 30 of those, and mastered driving the tri-state area while providing his services.
Brian lived life to the fullest and was an avid sports fan. Two of his favorite teams over the years included the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Buffalo Bills. He was a very talented bowler and bowled two perfect games! Brian also loved the outdoors. He loved boating, golfing with his son Jeffrey, racing rc cars and playing darts and ping-pong with his boys, picnic celebrations, and bird-watching with a cup of tea. He was always a positive uplifting man and had a knack for captivating his audience while expressing his thoughts on life.
Friends and family are welcome to extend their condolences in visitation at Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, Inc, West Ridge located at 3801 West 26th St., Erie, PA on Saturday, August 15th from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, with a short church service and opportunity to share memories to follow immediately after.
