Barbara Skopow

Barbara Gail Skopow, age 73, of Erie died Friday, April 5, 2013 at her residence. Born in Gallipolis, Ohio on January 28, 1940, she was the daughter of the late John and Dorothy Rose Harrington.

Barbara was a graduate of East High School and Fortis Institute. She was an avid reader and gardener and member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: John Harrington of Summersville, SC and Harold Dean Harrington.

She is survived by her husband Christopher Skopow; a daughter, Renee Simon and her husband Robert of Simpsonville, SC; a son, Robert L. Smith, Jr. and his wife Eva of Rethymno, Crete; her sister, Margaret Dall of Lisbon, Ohio; and three grandchildren, Lynn Peelman, of Erie, Laura Simon and Elizabeth Simon, both of Simpsonville, SC. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Burton Wintergreen Funeral Home, 2532 Norcross Road on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. and are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, 1553 East Grandview Boulevard, Erie, PA 16510, on Tuesday at 9 a.m. with the Reverend Raymond Hahn celebrant. Burial in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
