Barbara A. Manges, a beloved mother, grandmother, and wife, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on August 19, 2026, just one day after celebrating her 84th birthday.
She was born on August 18, 1942, in Charleroi, Pennsylvania, to the late Reverend Howard M. and Jean (Steele) Pape.
After Barb’s graduation from Blairsville High School (Class of 1960), she held various clerical positions, including roles at Sewickley Hospital and Mushroom Trucking, as well as a remarkable stint with the FBI. Barb found her true calling when she met her husband, James Manges, at R.D. McAllister & Son. Together, they established Anchor Marine Limited, which they successfully ran until closing the business in November 2018.
She was a devoted member of the Glenwood Global Methodist Church and the Erie Yacht Club. Barb's passions also included reading and doing crossword puzzles.
A loving mother and cherished grandmother, nothing brought her greater joy than time spent with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Barb is predeceased by her brothers James and William Pape.
She leaves behind to cherish her in memory, her loving husband of 49 years, James R. Manges and her children: Todd (Stephanie) Manges of Union City, Pennsylvania, Chris (Michelle) Manges of Houston, Texas, Melody (James) Rurik of Hilliard, Ohio and Lynnette Griffith (Mich) of Dubois, Pennsylvania. She is further survived by 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
In keeping with Barb’s wishes, all services were private and held at the convenience of the family.
Memorials may be made to Glenwood Global Methodist Church, 2931 Myrtle St., Erie, PA 16508.
Arrangements entrusted to Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services Inc., Downtown, 602 West 10th Street.
