Audrey L. Horton, age 92 of Erie, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 2nd, 2024, at her home surrounded by family.
She was born January 11th, 1932 in Wesleyville, PA, a daughter to the late Claude and Francis Pierce Dougan.
Audrey graduated from Academy High School. She was a dedicated member of Asbury United Methodist Church, where she found solace in the choir as well as directing the Junior Choir. She was an active participant in the Asbury United Methodist Women's Group, Audrey's unwavering faith and dedication shone brightly. Apart from her church activities, Audrey found joy in various pursuits, including bowling in a local league, leading a Girl Scout troop, and delighting children as a Grandma Reader in schools. Her skills as a seamstress were admired by many, and she was a member in the West Ridge Fire Department Auxiliary.
In addition to her parents, Audrey is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Harold E. Horton, in 2019; two grandchildren, Jeffrey and Michelle Cook; a sister, Jacqueline Paris; as well as a brother, David Dougan.
Audrey is survived by her children, Linda Cook and her husband, Joel, Jennifer Pasi and her husband Jim, Kevin Horton, Jacqueline Dalleo and her husband Carmen, all of Erie, and Amy Speranza and her husband Steven Backfisch, of Pittsburgh; as well as daughter in law, Sue Horton, of Erie. She is further survived by 18 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great granddaughter.
Friends may call at the Burton Quinn-Scott Funeral Home, West Ridge, 3801 W. 26th St., Erie, on Friday July 5th from 3 until 7 pm. And are invited to attend a funeral service Saturday, July 6th at 11 am at Asbury United Methodist Church, 4703 W. Ridge Rd. Burial will follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be made out to Asbury United Methodist Church or to the West Ridge Fire Department, 3142 W. 26th St., Erie, PA 16506.
