Anne M. Sokol, age 54, of Girard, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2022 at UPMC Hamot Medical Center after a short illness. She was born in Mesquite, Texas, November 21, 1968 daughter of Bernard W. and Barbara Ann (Contray) Sokolowski.
She grew up in Pittsburgh attending South Hills High School where she participated in track and field acquiring the nickname “Vapors” for being swift afoot. Anne graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in engineering and began her career at PennDOT as an inspector and then worked as a foreman building bridges for a local contractor. In 2000 she joined Millcreek Township as Assistant Township Engineer becoming Township Engineer in 2018. Anne served the citizens of Millcreek Township with dedication for over 22 years. She was a highly skilled, experienced employee and an excellent leader. Anne loved her dogs and was active in helping rescue animals. She had a heart of gold.
She is preceded in death by her father.
Anne is survived by her husband, Eric Churchill and their three dogs, Kona, Brie, and Trish. She is further survived by her mother, Barbara Dorsey (Jimmy), and her siblings, Joey Sokol and Amy Sokolowski.
