Anna May Rose

Anna May Rose, 90, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2026, at Manchester Commons in Fairview, Pennsylvania.

Born in Erie, Pennsylvania, on May 5, 1936, Anna May was the daughter of the late Peter and Mary Felege Liscko. She graduated from Fairview High School in 1954.

On December 29, 1956, Anna May married William W. “Bill” Rose. Together, they built a life centered on family, faith, hard work, and service to others. They shared 63 years of marriage before Bill's passing in 2020.

Anna May was a longtime and devoted member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. Her faith was expressed not simply in words, but through a lifetime of service. At St. Stephen's, she served as a nursery school teacher and Sunday school teacher, was a member of the Altar Guild, and participated in Calling and Caring Ministries. She also served others through Kairos prison ministry and volunteered as a bereavement counselor for Hospice of Metropolitan Erie.

Caring for others was also an important part of Anna May's professional life. A Licensed Practical Nurse, she worked for many years at Manchester Commons, the same community where she was lovingly cared for during the final chapter of her life.

Anna May had a deep appreciation for home, family, and the simple pleasures of everyday life. She loved working outdoors and growing fruits, vegetables, and flowers, often sharing what she grew with others. She was a wonderful cook and baker and believed in the importance of hospitality—a meal shared, a table set, and a home ready to welcome others.

She also loved needlepoint and created beautiful pieces that remain treasured in the homes of family and friends. She enjoyed decorating for the holidays, working word-search puzzles, and caring for the many beloved cats and dogs that were part of her life through the years.

Anna May will be remembered for her strong faith, generous heart, tremendous work ethic, meticulous attention to detail, and her unmistakably spunky, feisty spirit.

Anna May was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William W. “Bill” Rose, who passed away in 2020; her two sons, Peter Layton Rose (1971) and William “Billy” Simon Rose (1999); her sister, Alice Felege; and her brothers, Francis Liscko and John Liscko.

She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Ann Rose Harper (Greg), of Missoula, Montana; two grandsons, Joshua Harper and Zachary Harper, of Missoula; her sister, Florence Zunt of Cleveland, Ohio, whose husband, Robert, preceded her in death; her brother, Peter Liscko (Bonnie), of Antioch, Tennessee; her sisters-in-law, Joyce Liscko of Fairview and Patricia Liscko of Alpharetta, Georgia; two nieces, Peggy Allin and Lisa Rose; and many other beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.

Anna May's family extends its heartfelt gratitude to AseraCare Hospice for the compassionate care provided to her. The family is also deeply grateful to her nieces Peggy and Lisa and her dear friend and neighbor, Lorrie, whose loving presence, attention, and care brought Anna May tremendous comfort and allowed her to be surrounded by love during the final season of her life.

Friends may call at Burton Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street, Erie, Pennsylvania, on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, from 4:00 PM until the time of service at 6:00 PM.

Interment will be at Girard Cemetery at a later date.

Anna May spent a lifetime caring for what had been entrusted to her—her family, her faith, her home, her community, and the people around her. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives touched by her kindness, service, generosity, and love.
