ALLEN MILTON SELLING –

Allen Selling, 88, died December 6, 2025, at Lake Worth Select Specialty Hospital due to complications from a post-surgery stroke. He was born October 26, 1937, in Erie, PA to Benjamin M. and Jacobeth (Berman) Selling.

Allen graduated from Academy High School in 1955 Following graduation, he worked in Buffalo at Pratt & Lambert, Schwartz Jewelers and various other jobs. He met Marilyn Gellman and married her in Buffalo on 8/26/1962. Allen then received his engineering degree from Canisius College in 1969. He worked as a management consultant for Gulf & Western/Paramount out of Philadelphia, New York City and LA. After his grandmother passed in 1977, he bought Berman Bedding and moved back to Erie in 1979.

Allen’s presence took up every room he walked into. His smile and generous spirit affected everyone he met. He helped so many people quietly, stoically and gracefully with no expectations in return. Allen’s biggest passion was playing bridge. Anyone in the bridge world, who was lucky enough to have him as a partner, knows of his brilliance at the bridge table ~ he was a Lifetime Master five times over! Additionally, Allen enjoyed golfing as a member at both Lake Shore and Lakeview country clubs, plus he served as the President at Congregation Brith Sholom for many years.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Marilyn and his brothers Barnett (Bunny) and Ronald. Surviving are his daughter Julie Beegle and her husband Michael (Claremont, NC), her son Logan and wife Elizabeth (NC) and her daughter Marley; daughter Lauren Unger and her husband Robert (Erie, PA), her son Adam and wife Kelsey (DE); brother Sherwood (FL), sister Judy (PA) and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2pm Wednesday, December 10th at Burton Quinn-Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, 3801 West Ridge Road, followed by burial at CBS cemetery. Shiva will be observed at the Unger home at 7pm Wednesday night and 7pm Thursday night.
